How to customize a broadcast in BotStar chatbot

The Broadcast includes 4 parts such as Content, Audiences, Schedule and Advanced Options. For details about each part, please check the guidance below:

Content

Message Content: You can type text in "Composing Block". Chatbot operators can insert variables to personalize customer experience. Or select one "Existing Block" to send messages to the subscribers. "Existing Block" is a created block in Bot Builder.

Content Type: There are 2 content types in Broadcast, that is Promotional Message and Non-promotional Message:

  • Promotional Message includes:

    • Promotional message: Promotional Message can contain ads and promotional materials, but can only be sent to subscribers who were active in the past 24 hours.
    • One-time Notification: Bot will automatically send the message to the customers who accepted “Notify Me". An OTN message is a type of message that you can send to customers after 24 hours of their last interaction with the page as long as the customer agrees to receive this message. If the person engages with the message, the standard messaging window will reopen. Visit here for more details.
  • Non-Promotional Message includes:

    • Confirmed Event Update: Send your customers some reminders or updates for an event they have registered for (e.g., RSVP'ed, purchased tickets). This tag may be used for upcoming events and events in progress.
    • Post Purchase Update: Notify the customers of an update on a recent purchase.
    • Account Update: Notify customers of a non-recurring change to their application or account.
    • Subscription Message: Facebook introduced New Message, an unlimited non-promotional message, the messages can't contain ads or promotional materials, but can be sent at any time regardless of time passed since last user activity. You can use the Subscription Message in BotStar to deliver your message to customers. It is important to keep in mind that you can’t send promotional messages in Subscription Message and if you do, you're in violation of this policy and as a consequence, your page will lose messaging privileges.

In Audiences

Target Audience: Message can be sent to a targeted segmentation of your subscribers by applying one or multiple combined filters.

In Schedule

Chatbot operator has the options:

  • ASAP: Messages will be sent immediately, upon the Broadcast is created.
  • Schedule for later: Messages will be sent at a custom date and time.

In Advanced Options

There are some notification types:

  • Regular: "Regular Push" notification will make a sound and display a phone notification. Use it for important messages.
  • Silent Push: "Silent Push" notification will display a phone notification without sound. Use it for regular messages that don't require immediate action.
  • Silent: "Silent broadcast" will not display any notification. Use it for silently sending content updates.

Tracking Broadcast

After creating a broadcast, chatbot manager can easily check the time when the message was sent and track the messages status, including:

  • Sent: broadcast messages are sent
  • Reached: broadcast messages are delivered
  • Read: subscribers read broadcast messages
  • Replied: subscribers replied to broadcast messages

The bot owner and collaborators can also know the person who created the broadcast and the moment that broadcast was created.
