BotStar features are supported in Zapier
BotStar application in Zapier currently supports these following Instant Triggers:
Human Takeover Requested: Triggered when a user request to contact human operator
New Checkpoint Record: Triggered when a new checkpoint record is created
User Subscribed to Broadcast: Triggered when a user is subscribed to receive broadcast messages
User Attribute Updated: Triggered when a user attribute get updated
User Tag Updated: Triggered when a user is tagged with a new tag
Tutorial: Capture data into Google Sheet
When working with BotStar, in some cases, you need to save the user information. As you know, we will use the
Save to Checkpoint Action in BotStar and the system will save to the
Checkpoint. However, data need to be updated regularly. The example below will show you how we can capture the user contact information using a module.
Let create a module that contains some blocks to capture user information, including
enquiry. All of the information is saved in the Checkpoint named
Usually, if we want to know the contact information of new users, we need to open the
Checkpoint to see.
In case you want to use another application or system to manage the user information, Zapier is a great choice to integrate BotStar and that application.
Step 1 - Prepare a Google sheet
Before connecting, you need to prepare a Google sheet with the headers like the picture below.
Step 2 - Enable Zapier in BotStar
Integrations in your Bot and enable Zapier.
Step 3 - Accept invite & Build a Zap
After clicking on the link and logging in Zapier, please press the Accept invite & build a Zap button to start using.
Step 4 - Make a Zap
To create an application in Zapier, you can press the
Make a Zap! button. Zapier will ask for an app, select BotStar app and press Connect to make the connection.
Step 5 - Link the bot
After logging in, you will select the bot that you want to apply this automated process.
Step 6 - Select Trigger type
Then we will choose the type of triggers that BotStar provides. As for this example, we will select
New Checkpoint Record, as a result, we will have the new checkpoint in the BotStar system.
Next select the type of checkpoint you need to track to update information.
Note: You will need at least one checkpoint in BotStar to select from Zapier.
Step 7 - Configure Action App
The second part in creating the Zapier app is to select the "Action App" which we choose to extract the information to a sheet in Google Sheets.
Step 8 - Verify and choose Action type
Similar steps with the BotStar app, you will verify your Google Sheets account and then select the file to save the information returned from "Trigger App".
Step 9 - Config Zapier Action
Next you select the sample information which is collected from the previous test of BotStar app to match with the corresponding column in the sheet you want.
Now your zap is working!
Step 10 - Test the integration
Run through the flow that has the checkpoint to gather some sample data
When you finish the application successfully, each time a user requests a contact (select
Send Inquiry), a new row in the sheet that you choose to save information will be created.
